e-Learning comments Nepal

Food, Agriculture and the Environment 2011-2013

The material presented was really helpful, as Food, Agriculture and the Environment are very crucial issues in developing countries, as well as developed ones. I was studying how the conservation of forests has affected possibilities of extensive cultivation, and how rural people are prevented from managing their local resources. Agriculture for Rural development is major topic of interest to me, without ignoring the issues of food security and degradation. I will be able to use this knowledge in my research. Green Salary 2010-2011

The material covered in the course has helped me in my work by providing the most recent events and explanations in the field of green jobs. The demonstration with examples of the new jobs in the field of greening the environment is the most valuable aspect of the course. Sakunda Ojha, Environment Officer, Nepal

The materials of the course have helped a lot. The course offers concrete material on the subject and this subject was not in the curriculum for classroom teaching. Classroom teaching also did not have such a beautiful illustration, but classroom teaching has definitely given some ideas in learning and understanding the contents in depth. Definitely, the entire course was very valuable. It talked about the GREEN SALARY, and definitely green jobs create a win-win scenario. It also explained all about green jobs, green buildings, green finance, green employment and technology, green jobs in agriculture and transport. The historical background and the conservation approach were very well illustrated. Also the chapters talked about pollution control and management of resources with lucid explanations and very good examples. The e-learning course will definitely help me in my professional life. I am just a fresh graduate and also have just started working in a firm and it has enhanced my knowledge and boosted my confidence. I would love to join such courses in the future. This course was definitely new to me and I enjoyed it a lot. Thank you very much Biopolitics. Rajiv Ghimire, Student, Central Department of Environmental Science, Nepal

As I am a student of the environment, the course module helped me a lot to broaden my knowledge about the green salary. Though I couldn’t spend enough time on detailed study of the course because of my thesis preparation, I found it helpful for my voluntary services in various private NGOs. Especially the topics regarding green buildings, green employment in the transport sector and the green salary itself were new to me. But I found these modules a good way of acquiring information on these topics as well as others. Rojina Rawut, Nepal

The Green Salary is a very new topic for me that I enjoyed throughout the study materials. Every case study included in the course was inspiring and motivating. With every new success story, I was imagining a successful environment-friendly nation. This course was really fruitful in the context that it developed my understanding of possibilities for creating green jobs in almost all sectors. As I am an environmentalist always focussed on the improvement of the environment, I will always be incorporating this knowledge in my work in the following days and years. Last but not the least, I was enlightened by this course. Rabin Raj Niraula, Student, Central Department of Environmental Science, Tribhuvan University, Nepal

The material covered in this course was familiar to me from my previous studies but the references cited have helped me to learn more. Also, the data provided was recent and reliable, and, from this study I learned some interesting things that we can do to prοtect our environment. Creating employment in environmental protection was also very interesting for me, although there are no unemployment benefits in my country. As the course was systematically designed, it definitely helped me to update my knowledge in a proper way. Regarding its implementation, being a student of zoology, I deal with natural resources in my work and writings. I am also a media person, and I can talk about environmental degradation in a way that will help to make my listeners aware of it. The next step in my life will be teaching, where I will definitely implement these course materials. Thank you. Madhu Nepal, Teacher, Kathmandu University High School, Nepal

Natural Resources 2010

The materials covered in the course module are of high standard. The updated information on natural resources covered in the course has helped in broadening my knowledge on natural resources. The information on degradation and protection measures of different natural resources as covered in the course is the most valuable aspect of the topic. I have been able to incorporate this information in proposing and managing the project in an environmentally sustainable manner. Sakunda Ojha, Environment Officer, Nepal

The material covered in this course was similar to what I have learned before in my previous studies but, also, the references cited here helped me to learn more and the data provided here are recent and reliable. The mythology of water also added more knowledge. As the course was designed systematically, it definitely helped me to update my knowledge in the proper way. Regarding its implementation, being a student of zoology, natural resources come in every step to do or to write anything. Besides that, I am a media person and can make my listeners aware of environmental degradation. The next step will be teaching, where I will definitely implement these materials. After my graduation I want to devote my life to nature. Our country is a developing country; political instability is its habit because of illiteracy. Illegal poaching and trade cause our natural resources to degrade day by day. People have easy access to F.M. radio produced by China. So I want to start a media (radio) campaign for conservation by awareness creation, as I have experienced from my five years in radio program production. Madhu Nepal, Student, Central Dep. of Zoology, Kathmandu, Nepal

Sustainable Agriculture 2010

Presently, I am a master’s student, some years ago I was a teacher and will be again in the near future, at which time I will have to teach about farming. Issues such as agricultural waste, organic farming, pest management etc., are common topics where this course will be a good resource for me. Not only in teaching, but also in my village, I will definitely follow some of the important points that I found here. Madhu Nepal, Central Department of Zoology, Tribhuwan University, Nepal

The materials covered in the course have been very useful for my professional work. The sustainable model of agriculture as presented in the course is very helpful in mitigating the food insecurity situation arising due to the degradation of agricultural land from various development projects in my country. The course has provided valuable and updated information on sustainable agriculture which is the most valuable aspect of the topic. The information provided has greatly helped my work. Sakunda Ojha, Environment Officer, Kathmandu, Nepal
